'N Sync Have Special
'Star Wars' Shirts
'N Sync were given
permission to spoof the sci-fi series after their much-publicised blink-and-you'll-miss-it
scene in "Episode II" was cut by George Lucas.
But the rarity won't
be available to the public - only the group and Britney have copies of
the quirky shirts, which feature Timberlake as heroic Anakin Skywalker
and Britney as Queen Amidala.
Bandmember Joey Fatone
wore one of the T-shirts during a recent press day at Lucas' Skywalker
Ranch in northern California. He says, "We got cut and we were obviously
disappointed. A lot of people thought we took it to heart. I enjoyed just
being there."

Britney: No Beers
A spokeswoman for
Britney Spears has today denied reports that the pop princess has spoken
to the UK media about an emotional reconciliation with Justin Timberlake.
The News Of The World
claimed yesterday that Spears had revealed all to them about her on/off
relationship, claiming that she had resorted to drink after breaking-up
with the 'NSYNC star.
However, Britney's
official spokeswoman at Jive Records in the UK, told dotmusic this afternoon
that Britney had not carried out any interviews with English press in recent
weeks.
On the subject of their
relationship, the tabloid paper had previously quoted Britney as insisting:
"I didn't want it to be over. We'd known each other since we were kids
and I couldn't imagine life without him.
"It was a tough time.
We both went out and drank to block out our sadness but we still loved
each other. We both did the single thing and didn't like it".

Britney's Dance Beat
From soda to sneakers,
pop sensation Britney Spears has lent her likeness to virtually every youth-oriented
consumer product known to humankind. Now, following in the footsteps of
former pop queens The Spice Girls, Britney is starring in her very own
rhythm game. But unlike the ill-conceived Spice World, Britney's Dance
Beat can actually provide an enjoyable if short-lived experience, and it
serves as a good introduction for the uninitiated to the world of rhythm
games.
This might come as
a surprise, but you never actually play as Britney Spears in Britney's
Dance Beat. Instead, you play as one of eight dancers auditioning for a
spot as one of Britney's backup dancers. The gameplay in Britney's Dance
Beat is highly reminiscent of the gameplay of Enix's Bust A Groove franchise,
in that you'll compete in a series of head-to-head dance competitions against
either the computer or another player. The focus of your attention while
playing the game will be the rhythm wheel, which is a circular field where
various controller commands appear. You must execute these commands in
time with the music. If you make more mistakes than your opponent, you
lose. The longer you go without making a mistake, the harder things will
get for your opponent, as commands will start popping up, moving around,
and changing into other commands at random. Your opponent, of course, can
do the same to you by performing well.
Notably, Britney's
Dance Beat is one of the select few rhythm games out there that can be
played with a standard controller and a dance mat, and unlike most other
games that support both peripherals, Britney's Dance Beat is pretty enjoyable
either way. It's a relatively easy rhythm game to pick up, and while the
difficulty markedly increases as you progress through the game, it will
present little challenge for players familiar with games like Parappa the
Rapper, DDR, or Bust A Groove.
The first thing you'll
probably notice while watching Britney's Dance Beat is the fluidity with
which the dancers move. The House of Moves, a studio that specializes in
video game motion-capture, handled all of the dancers' movements in the
game, and the results look incredibly natural. Not only do the dancers
move well, but they also look good, and the digital version of Britney
Spears that appears in the game looks uncannily like the real thing. The
stages you'll perform your dance routines on capably reflect the feel of
each individual song, and they wouldn't look out of place in Britney's
stage show or one of her videos. During each stage, the song's music video
will play in the background, but oddly, the video is never in sync with
the music itself. You initially might not notice this while you're playing
the game, but it's rather obvious to spectators, and it definitely detracts
from the experience soon enough. Another distraction is the game's overuse
of lighting and particle effects, which can sometimes make it hard to keep
track of your place on the rhythm wheel.
Sadly, the biggest
shortcoming in Britney's Dance Beat comes in the area of sound. The game
consists of five of Britney's higher-profile singles: "...Baby One More
Time," "Oops!...I Did It Again," "Stronger," "Overprotected," and "I'm
a Slave 4 U." They're some of the best songs in Britney's catalog, and
they're all catchy, well-crafted pop songs in their own right, but five
songs simply aren't enough to carry an entire game, and unless you have
an undying love for Ms. Spears, they can quickly become repetitive. To
date, Britney has produced more than 10 music videos, so there's really
no reason why other singles like "(You Drive Me) Crazy" and "Lucky" aren't
included here.
The shortage of music
and the relative simplicity of the gameplay in Britney's Dance Beat will
keep it from truly appealing to rhythm game enthusiasts, or anyone who
isn't thoroughly enraptured by the young pop star. However, if you are
a fan, then you're in for a treat, as there is no shortage of Britney in
this game--despite the fact that you don't play as her. Aside from getting
to interact with the music, there is an abundance of unlockable goodies,
including "immersive video" of Britney in concert, which uses proprietary
technology that lets you pan the camera 360 degrees in real time, as well
as a ton of behind-the-scenes video. These extras will be of little consolation
for someone looking for a rhythm game with some legs, but Britney fanatics
will undoubtedly walk away with a smile.

Lynne's Corner Updated:
"Mother's Day"
Brit's schedule is
relentless these days. We're in Los Angeles now. Brit's rehearsing for
her next video. The weather is beautiful and rehearsals are going great.
Brittany Hastings, a friend from home, was able to join Brit to work on
this project. I'm not telling you anything about this video. Surprise!!
I was at home resting
on my birthday, when Bryan and Lauren surprised me by flying in from New
York. Then the whole family took me out to eat. A few days later Bryan
and Britney surprised me with a new Lexus 5C-430 sports car! It has so
many fantastic features and the best stereo system I've ever heard in a
car. I have to admit my children have "spoiled" me.
Mother's Day was low
key this year. We went to church, ate Sunday lunch at home and then took
it easy.
Summer's almost here
and it's going to be a wild one. Jamie Lynn is doing her thing in California.
Of course, I'll be with her. Britney will be everywhere on tour. Bryan's
landed a wonderful new job. Sandra, my sister, will be top priority for
about 2 weeks. She is going to Houston for treatments. I need and want
to be with all my family members. Somehow, with help from above, it will
work out for everyone.

Britney, Austin Powers
Team Up For Video, Commercial
"Boys" will be ...
spies.
Austin Powers will
appear in Britney Spears' video for "Boys," the Neptunes-produced next
single from Britney (2001) and the first release from the "Austin Powers
in Goldmember" soundtrack.
Spears and Mike Myers,
the man behind the international man of mystery, are filming the clip in
a Hollywood mansion Tuesday (May 14th) and Wednesday, according to Spears'
Jive Records spokesperson.
The duo also recently
crossed roads (pun intended) at a Pepsi commercial shoot in Los Angeles
that will tie into the third Austin Powers flick, due in theaters July
26.
Although it is Destiny's
Child star Beyoncé Knowles who co-stars in "Goldmember," Spears
makes a cameo appearance in the movie as herself.
The soundtrack will
be released July 16, according to a spokesperson for the album. A track
list has not been finalized, though the rep said it will include "Boys"
and Knowles' "Hey, Goldmember," which was written by Myers and samples
K.C. and the Sunshine Band's 1976 disco hit "(Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake
Your Booty".
After the "Boys" video
shoot, Spears will prepare for the second leg of her Dream Within a Dream
Tour, which kicks off May 24 in Las Vegas.

Britney Should Purge
Her Sins, Says Local Church
Britney Spears' local
church in Louisiana has urged her to seek forgiveness for her sins.
The singer's squeaky-clean
image has been ruined by reports of her smoking, under-age drinking and
having lost her virginity to Justin Timberlake.
Church leaders wish
Britney hadn't had sex before marriage and would wear less revealing clothes.
Bob Sheffield from
the Southern Baptist Convention said: "I would have preferred it if she
wore more clothes and if she had waited and had sex after marriage. But
Jesus will forgive her."
Local support group
True Love Waits also says she would be welcomed back to the fold even though
she's reportedly had sex before marriage.
The group's organiser
Richard Ross told Heat: "The groups are full of people who have had sex
and then decided to make a commitment to God until they are married. Britney
will be welcomed back."
